National Children's Gardening Week
National Children’s Gardening Week celebrates the fun that gardens hold for kids. This is to encourage children and families to be outdoors, using compost from the garden waste produced around the Derbyshire Dales, supplied by Biffa, planters and signs made out of pallets from our Clean & Green Depot, a local Forest Nurseries Garden Centre has donated seeds for children to plant in recycled tubs and planters which will remain on the park, and bird seed, to make bird feeders, reusing pop bottles and tubs, recovered from Serco Longcliffe Site and collected by our employee’s within the Council, we are trying to encourage the 3 R’s, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. The Community & Environmental Department are running activities for children on the day, including Xplorer, make a bird feeder, plant your own flower, guess the amount of sunflower seeds in the jar, Smoothie bike and an activity sheet.
