Doveridge Primary School

Vacancy: Teaching and Learning Assistant (EYFS)

Chair of Governors Letter to Parents - 07.06.2024

We are planning to extend our age range from 5-11 to 3-11 to offer nursery places from September 2024.

The main reasons for this are:
1. To improve transition from Nursery to Reception
2. Parents with older siblings have requested it, and
3. Improved outcomes for pupils.

This has always part of our long-term plan for the school and as such, our proposal is that Nursery age children in the term after their third birthday (September/January/April), would be taught as part of a mixed aged Nursery and Reception class as an Early Years Foundation Stage Unit initially, and with growth, be extended to a separate Nursery class.

As a result, for the academic year 2024-2025 the school structure would be:
Class 1: Nursery and Reception
Class 2: Year 1 and Year 2
Class 3: Year 3 and Year 4
Class 4: Year 4, 5 and 6

As part of this process, we are required to carry out a consultation with all stakeholders. Below you will find further information, but if you do have any comments at all please do not hesitate in speaking with us.

Yours sincerely,
N N Clark - Head Teacher
