Music

Music is taught by staff across the school and the children experience a wide variety of musical genres and instruments. Mrs Evans is the Subject Lead for Music.

We use the Sparkyard Music scheme to teach the specific knowledge and skills of music and link the teaching of music to our varied topics.

The children’s musical skills are enriched through music programmes provided by the Derbyshire Music Hub such as singing, brass and woodwind lessons.

CPD is provided by the Music Partnership and the Music Hub.

We sing as a school in weekly assemblies and at our Christmas, Easter and Harvest services. We encourage our pupils to take instrumental tuition in school which is provided by Derbyshire County Council.

Derby Music Centre

Do you play an instrument or do you enjoy singing (or even both) and are of school age?

We have a music group for you to join, for all ability levels and instruments. A new school year is the perfect time for you to come along and see what we do on Saturday mornings. Derby Music Centre is offering a FREE term to all new members.

If you don't already play an instrument, our Voices choir and Samba percussion groups are open to all pupils and there is no previous experience needed.
