Class 1: New Starters September 2023

Here at Doveridge Primary we strive for all children and parents to feel happy, safe and ready for their first days at school. We strongly believe that an effective transition is essential when building those important relationships.

Meeting you and your child is really important to us and we like to give you plenty of opportunities to do so.

During the Summer Term, Mrs Clark and Mrs Clarke will arrange to visit the children in their current settings and begin to build those important relationships. Parents are also invited to a ‘Welcome Meeting’ to meet the team who will support and work alongside your child which will include the school nurse and the catering team. We will then welcome all children and parents to our fun Forest School transition afternoons. These afternoons are held in our school forest and give the staff, children and parents a chance to get to know each other a little better, whilst having lots of Forest School fun! Finally, all parent’s will be invited to meet with Mrs Clarke (class teacher) for a one to one meeting to discuss their child on a more personal level. This meeting will allow parents the chance to share key information e.g. their likes, dislikes, allergies, SEND information etc and help parents, teachers and children feel fully prepared and supported for their first day at school.
